Nexium helps in reducing the amount of acid produced within the stomach. Generic Nexium is also used for treating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Also it is used to treat conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It can also be used to quicken the healing process of erosive esophagitis.

Patients suffering from gastric ulcer caused by infection with helicobacter pylori or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can be given Generic Nexium.
